My brother, Andrew Douglas's site with a selection of still photographic work. Andrew has just completed his first Hollywood film, an improvement on the classic “Amityville Horror”. Andrew, and his script man, Steven Haisman, recently received an award for Best Documentary for “Searching for the Wrong-Eyed Jesus”. He has a new film, in pre-production featuring some household names.
My second brother, Stuart Douglas's, production company web-site. You can see examples of his televisual advertising genius here. He's also just taken over the Arena Essex Speedway team - let's hope his star riders don't suffer from the fate of the rider in the Kursaal's epic song.
My wife Janet's site. Plenty of examples of her colourful still life work here. I've just finished uploading a new site design, and, with many new paintings shown, it's well worth having a look.
Official Kursaal Flyers' web-site
The official web-site for the latest incarnation of the Hot Rods. I saw Barrie the other night and he still gives it 11/10.
Ben Waters, the boogie-woogie maestro, and thoroughly good man. He dropped by the other day to put some stunning piano on a couple of new songs for my new CD.
Die Totenhosen are a German band that have inherited the spirit of the late 70s. Campino and his boys have proved to be English in the best possible sense of the word. They also covered one of my songs, so I'm very grateful.
Dr. Feelgood, the masters of "Authentic" R n' B. Steve Walwyn has followed on the Feelgood tradition of fine guitarists, and has proved to be a master. The band are worthy successors to the original band, the sadly-missed Lee Brilleaux, Wilko, Sparko and Figure.
Mickey Jupp was one of the first Sarfend boys to get noticed nationally - he is a great singer and songwriter. Do check him out. As it happens, the old Legend band (Bobby, Mo and John, with assistance from Chris East) have resurrected and redubbed some old demos by Mickey and are offering them for sale complete. Because he's such a grumpy old sod, he refused to do anything further to them, but, by all accounts they sound well good. Check out a taster by following the link.
Paul Gray was always an extremely gifted bass player. It's a shame that he is suffering from tinnitus - I wish him well
Will Birch has written some great lyrics, some great lyrics to some of my songs, copied one of my best songs with the Records, and also authored an amusing history of Pub Rock in “No sleep until Canvey”.
John Otway makes any party go with a bang. I'm so pleased that he has achieved his ambition, just recently, to be much more than a one-hit wonder.
A ferocious style belies a genuine good guy. I was very upset to hear of his wife, Irene's, death. There's maybe solace for him in R n'B though.
Pete Thomas is a fine sax exponent and creator of some fine saxophone (and other) samples for the EXS. Well worth checking his site out
David escaped from Brentwood College of Education in 1973, along with me. He got into teaching whereas I got into mischief. He has made amends by treating the gentle folk of Norfolk to some “serious” (pun intentional) guitar playing, along with his band Serious Risk.
I own a few Stratocasters; they have always been my favourites.
That's not to say that I don't like playing Les Pauls or "Lucille"s
I use Logic Audio Pro for my audio recording, together with a Unitor8 MkII for MIDI. Recently, the takeover by Apple has meant that this site is only a shadow of it's former self.
As I've said elsewhere, I am very happy with the ULN-2 firewire audio interface, and it's excellent A/D converters.
I've just progressed to the Platinum native package of plug-ins. They are very handy for serious Audio mixes, especially the SSL compression and EQ plugins.
The Logic User group recommended these compressor and EQ analog-style plug-ins, and I'm a willing convert. I use the SV315 and 517 eqs and the DQ1 and CQ1 compressors.
Sonic Distribution, UK Distributors for Waves and other quality audio lines. Their service is very good.
Unity audio is another good company which supplies quality audio gear. Excellent service and a friendly manner - well recommended!
This is a good site for piano samples (amongst others). There are a number of great instruments here, already configured for use in Logic's EXS sampler. I use both the Upright series and the, recently-purchased, Black Grand and 7CG.
Sound Forge is the ideal sound file editing application for Windows - it allows greater precision than Logic. It's a shame that it's not available for the Mac platform.
John Henry's have always done the business for me when it comes to building, repairing, hiring and supplying quality audio gear. My good friend Robert Harding still tries to make sense of it all.
I still own a Peavey Vintage 4x10 - it took some stick during years on the road, but see the next entry.
Talking of the Peavey Vintage, I've just had it totally refurbished by Greg at Guitar Aid. He has done a wonderful restoration job on it and I'm happy to recommend his work to everyone in need of restorative work on vintage amps and guitars.
Search for Extra-Terrestrial Intelligence. I don't believe we're alone in the Universe, although sometimes I wish that some people alive to-day on this planet were FAR, FAR AWAY (This especially includes Sammy Bin-Liner, all Muslim and Christian fundamentalists, all Zionists and Dubbya Bush). Register and be the first one on your block to come home with an E.T.
I spent a pleasant time studying Astrophysics at Queen Mary College, University of London - here's a plug for the Physics department, and good wishes to all my fellow students. I hope that they have found happy paths to tread.
This is a site with many extraordinary listings. It seems to deal mainly with USA, but there may well be items of interest to British people.
